by posted 09/07/2010

South Central Premier sends out a great congratulations to SCP Alumnus, Alyssa Naeher, who has been recently called up to the U.S. Women's National Team.  SCP players were able to watch Naeher in action during the Boston Breakers match against the Atlanta Beat this past summer.  Take a look at the full article by clicking the link seen below.  You will see that she is now in company with the world's best players.  We all wish her the best of luck!

No question, Mastroianni is a keeper
by posted 08/30/2010

STORRS — The first time Alison Kulik sat under the searing southern Florida sun and saw Jillian Mastroianni’s quest to score goals rather than to prevent them, the veteran Boston College women’s soccer coach let out an incredulous chuckle.

When Mastroianni was again playing forward for her South Central Premier squad at the prestigious Orange Classic, Kulik could not believe her eyes. Believing that the third time is definitely not the charm in the eyes of Kulik, she decided it was time to put in a request to see the highly recruited goalkeeper from Durham in goal.  Full Article

The U.S. Soccer Federation has renewed the membership of the South Central Soccer Club in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for the 2009-10 season!  South Central is exclusive in that was one of the first of 64 of 79 highly competitive clubs nationwide to be chosen by the U.S. Soccer Federation. The program’s revolutionary initiative is the emphasis in the development of the player by improving their daily playing environment. SCP is an inaugural member and is one of only two Connecticut clubs, Oakwood being the second club, to participate in the Development Academy program.

SCP plays in the competitive Northeast Division, which recently added The New England Revolution for 2009 – 2010 Season. This addition affects SCP in that we will play the Revolution twice in the upcoming season. New clubs for 2009-2010 include teams from California, Texas, Kansas, Virginia and New Jersey.

The creation of the development Academy is designed to enhance the U.S. National Team  which has culled in 2008 more than 100 player as well as over 800 players have continued onto college soccer; including several of our own SCP players who have commitments to colleges. Colleges routinely use the Academy’s playing environment as a scouting venue to enhance their respective programs.
