posted 06/08/2009 The SCP Academy Teams recently completed their second round of SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Recovery, Quickness) testing for the ’08-’09 season. The first testing was done in December at the Winter Showcase. The most recent test was just completed at the Spring Showcase in Sarasota, FL. The players were tested twice this season to track player progress over the year.
The SPARQ rating measures an athlete’s athletic ability for a given sport. The components included in this score are height, weight, agility test, beep test, vertical jump, and a 20 meter sprint. Players can compare their overall and individual component scores against teammates, other clubs and even the pros.
SCP is proud to announce 2 players from the U17/18 team ranked in the top ten of all Academy players in the country in the overall rating. Jesse Menzies was 2nd with a score of 111.58 and Michael White was 7th with a score of 109.23. In the individual components, Jesse was tie for 7th in the agility testing with a time of 14.84 seconds and tie for 7th with a 20 meter sprint time of 2.82 seconds.
Congratulations boys on a job well done!
