by andrew paolillo posted 08/01/2008 The U.S. Soccer Federation has renewed the membership of the South Central Soccer Club in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for the 2009-10 season! South Central is exclusive in that was one of the first of 64 of 79 highly competitive clubs nationwide to be chosen by the U.S. Soccer Federation. The program’s revolutionary initiative is the emphasis in the development of the player by improving their daily playing environment. SCP is an inaugural member and is one of only two Connecticut clubs, Oakwood being the second club, to participate in the Development Academy program.
SCP plays in the competitive Northeast Division, which recently added The New England Revolution for 2009 – 2010 Season. This addition affects SCP in that we will play the Revolution twice in the upcoming season. New clubs for 2009-2010 include teams from California, Texas, Kansas, Virginia and New Jersey.
The creation of the development Academy is designed to enhance the U.S. National Team which has culled in 2008 more than 100 player as well as over 800 players have continued onto college soccer; including several of our own SCP players who have commitments to colleges. Colleges routinely use the Academy’s playing environment as a scouting venue to enhance their respective programs.
The Academy strives to provide players, coaches and referees a national-coordinated program to enhance their collective development and create a structured environment for high- level consistent matches for evaluation from colleges to National teams.
